Preparing to record
A Cappella
A cappella recording is our specialty.
We have a few recommendations to make your recording experience more enjoyable, prosperous, and to maximize your productivity in the studio.
Practice until you know every word and note, also breathing and rest points. The better you know your music - the better you will sound.
Take particular note of starting together. Sometimes it is helpful for everyone to sing the first word or phase together. Then have a pause and begin singing. This helps in being tuned to your starting note and having a confident, solid start together.
Pay attention to endings. Everyone should be able to hold out to an ending that is together.
Do not rush to record all in one setting. This could exhaust your voices. For small groups, such as quartets, investing multiple days of recording time in the studio will lead to a more enjoyable process and a higher-quality final product.
The amount of time recommended for recording widely varies. It can be dependent on:
Quantity of songs
Type of songs - easy or challenging
Quantity of singers
The desired final product
Available budget
