Licensing Rates
The US Copyright Office set the mechanical license rate at 12.7 cents per copy. For 1,000 CDs, the licensing cost is $127.
Songs that are under 5 minutes in duration are billed at the standard rate, whereas songs exceeding this duration will incur charges based on a per-minute rate of 2.38 cents, which is rounded up.
If you license over 2,500 units, extra fees may apply. We work with a licensing company for many of the songs of which we obtain permission of use. They charge $0.014 per unit over 2,500, with a minimum of $25 per song. This covers additional reporting to copyright owners.
Our Fees
Altar of Praise Studio charges $30 to find and license each copyrighted song.
Public Domain songs are free.
Reorders cost $15 per song.
